Well it’s been a busy time since attending AREC11 and being part of the AREC11 Interview Lounge with my friend Kevin Turner from REUNCUT.
During the event, we caught up with a lot of top real estate performers and I had the pleasure to sit in on a panel session with Jeff Turner from the US and Kent Lardner from PriceFinder.
We outlined a number of key factors that agents need to look out for in today's changing market and covered some of the rapid changes taking place in real estate technology.
There were some great things to come out of AREC11 and I thought the AREC11 speakers were brilliant. In fact I'd have to say that it was the best Australasian Real Estate Conference that I've ever been to.
During the sessions, I enjoyed sharing lots of insights from some of the speakers via Twitter (here and some more here) and was pleased to see one of McGrath's top agents, Mat Steinwede tweeting during the event too.
My favourite moment during AREC11 was when World's #1 Real Estate Salesperson, Bob Bohlen was on stage and I tweeted "Great to hear Bob Bohlen talking about QR Codes & Property Showcase Sites. Bob Bohlen is now my favourite presenter at #arec11# "
I couldn't resist smiling and cheering Bob Bohlen on when he said... "we now do a property website for every listing", especially considering the fact that we provide both Property Showcase Sites and QR Codes to agents throughout Australia and New Zealand via HomeWebsites.com.au.
I was also pleased to see that John McGrath & Michael Sheargold put on a FREE AREC11 Post-Event Implementation webinar which was made available for both attendees and non-attendees.
During the webinar they shared some great insights for agents and Principals. (If you missed it you can access the webinar recording here).
Whilst the AREC11 content was fantastic, the biggest highlight for me was that the conference gave me the opportunity to personally meet up and network with so many agents and suppliers whom I'd only ever chatted with previously online. (It's amazing the friendships & connections that you can forge with people online nowadays).
AREC11 also provided the perfect environment for us to launch the first ever RE BarCamp in Sydney.
The feedback from all of the attendees has been extremely positive and discussion has already begun about where & when to hold the next RE BarCamp with Melbourne, Perth. Brisbane and a New Zealand RE BarCamp already being suggested.
A BIG THANK YOU to all of the sponsors who made it possible for the RE BarCamp to happen in the first place and thanks again to all the rest of the RE BarCamp team who all helped to make it the great success that it was.
Plus, last but by no means least, we'd like to thank the attendees for having the trust in us to turn up to something that they had no idea what they were in for. They just trusted in the concept and what we are doing for the real estate industry and ended up sharing in an amazing day. I'm really proud to be a part of the RE BarCamp team.
If anyone is interested in being involved from within the other states or would like to know more about RE BarCamp please feel welcome to contact me personally or anyone from the www.REBarCamp.com.au team.
Next week, I’ll be teaching Social Media for Real Estate at a FREE Half-Day Event on Tuesday 7th June in Brisbane with Tom Panos & Pat Mesiti.

UNLOCK YOUR FULL POTENTIAL
The central concept behind the Focal Point process is clarity. Through this process you will develop clarity about who you are and what you really want. You will learn to achieve your goals faster and more easily than you can now imagine.
To improve the quality of your life and work, there are essentially four things that you can do:
1. You can do more of certain things. You can do more of the things that are of greater value to you and bring you rewards and satisfaction.
2. You can do less of certain things. You can cut down or discontinue activities that don’t help you achieve your goals and may even be standing in your way.
3. You can start doing new things – making new choices, learning new skills, beginning new projects or activities.
4. You can stop doing certain things. You can stand back and re-evaluate your life. You can choose to discontinue activities that are not taking you where you want to go.
You can dramatically improve your quality of life almost overnight. All it takes is the desire to change, the decision to take action, the discipline to practice your new behaviours and the persistence to keep at it until you get the results you want.
With the Focal Point Process you can double your income and double your time off. Many people are able to accomplish this in as little as thirty days.
THREE QUESTIONS FOR HIGH PRODUCTIVITY
1. What are my highest-value activities? Constantly ask yourself what are the things you do that contribute the most value to your work.
2. Why am I on the payroll? Figure out what it is that you have been hired to accomplish in terms of measurable results.
3. What is the most valuable use of my time right now? This is the key question in personal and time management. Ask it every hour of every day. You should be working on this most of the time, if not all the time. ________________________________________

Over the next decade, both he and his team literally turned the company's fortunes around. By the time he resigned in 2002, IBM was back in full swing as market leader in information technology. In his own words, Gerstner had taught 'The elephant to dance!'
You must make dealing with your company memorable for today’s customer. Super-salesman Tony Gattari, founder and CEO of the Achievers Group, makes this point clear in his new audio interview comparing the old generation of customer to the new one. After many years in senior management of the Harvey Norman Group, Tony shares with you his insights to the three main issues facing the new age consumer and how you and your business can succeed.
A simple recipe for success in business is to reduce the cost of customer acquisition and extend the "life" of your existing customers. So says sales and marketing expert Tony Gattari, of Achievers Group. And the trick, in this economic climate, is to generate leads at low cost. Tony Gattari has some advice on how to do that, using referrals, networking, word of mouth, direct mail - and plain old-fashioned hard work!
