2010 is drawing rapidly to a close.  I hope it's been a good year for you. 

I find this is a good time to start planning for the next year, rather than leaving it to the last minute and thought I’d share some tips on setting goals to create balance in your life that my friend John Shackleton sent to me earlier this week.

On a personal note, over the past few weeks I’ve had the pleasure to attend this year’s Ray White Wealth Conference as one of the only people outside the Ray White Network to be invited to see the launch of their new Property Management software ‘Portfolio’.

I’m regularly getting to see some pretty cool innovations before they get released and I must say that there are some great innovations being developed within the real estate industry at the moment.

I also conducted a train the trainer session for other real estate trainers/coaches who are currently working within the Australian & New Zealand market place to help them get up to speed with ‘What’s Hot & What’s Not’ for agents in the online and Social Media world.'

To help agents start their year on fire, I’ve been asked to speak at next year’s Ignite11 event which will be touring the country throughout Feb/March 2011…The event is being promoted as “Australia’s Best Real Estate line up of all time”…so if you’d like to get 2011 off to a flying start make sure you check out all the details here.

Also, over the past few weeks, I’ve been really busy working through the processes involved and monitoring the results that can be achieved by establishing a Personal Profile Fan Page on Facebook. It’s been a very interesting exercise and in working through the process, I now believe that every real estate agent should have a Personal Profile Fan Page and I’ll be sharing more information about why I believe this is the case in the New Year.

During the process I also found a very interesting site that integrates with facebook and allows people to make recommendations really easily. On top of all this, with a lot of agents now achieving great results from our HomeWebsites.com.au product, you’ll be pleased to know that we are currently in the process of rolling out some great new enhancements to this product which will really help our agents to remain at the cutting edge throughout 2011 and beyond.

PS: I also thought you might like to know that last week my wife Annette & I escaped away to relax on Daydream Island to celebrate our 20th Wedding Anniversary.

It was a great occasion for both Annette and I as well as for our family. I consider myself to be fortunate to be sharing my life with such an amazing lady, wife, mother and best mate. Annette does so much behind the scenes to allow me to do what I do, for which I am extremely grateful.

Why is it that you can have two people experience the same issue, yet have two completely different responses?

We can only see things through the window of our programming and your baggage shrinks your window. I had a client 20 years ago who heard a brilliant property development idea espoused in one of our follow-up classes. The guy with the idea finished with, ‘I just can’t see how it will work’.

My client ran with it and made $4.3 million over the next year. When asked how he did it he replied, ‘I just couldn’t see how it would fail’.

I have another client of 15 years’ standing, who can see and act on business opportunities where none appear to exist. He is looking through a much bigger window than the rest of the world because he has made a crucial life decision.

After finding and dealing with his baggage, all he wants to know is, ‘How do I move forward?’ So the short answer is that we can look at what’s happened, try to understand it, or we can deal with it, de-power it and move on.

We need to keep asking ourselves, How do I become the person capable of the success?’

Do you believe that change can happen instantly or does it take weeks or months before it can happen?


I’ve been a full-time professional teacher since 1973 and I’ve never seen anyone learn slowly. I’ve seen people fail to learn, I’ve watched many completely miss the point, and I’ve watched others bang their heads against the same brick wall that defeated them last time around, but I have never met a slow learner.

Time for ChangeIt appears to me that we are in love with the idea of gradually getting it or struggling, when what I see happen session after session is breakthrough after breakthrough.

As soon as we can embrace the idea that transformation is by its very nature instant, we can get on with it.
