I read this great article that demonstrates some great reasons why investors should return to real estate & provides a good insight into not believing everything they say about the economy.

“Most people know that there is risk involved in most any type of investing. Earl Bird said, “You can be more confident in real estate than many other options because it will never completely disappear. Even if the price fluctuates, a real estate investment fund will hold substantial value even in the worst of economic times. Companies go bankrupt and close their doors, but the real estate is still there; land and buildings will not just suddenly disappear.” Source. EmailWire.com

How To Use Real Estate Video Effectively
Friday, March 13th, 2009

Video is the latest trend that is taking off in the Real Estate Industry.

I’ve seen some fantastic videos done by real estate agents & I’ve also seen some shockers.

If I can give you one word of warning about real estate videos it’s this:-

A great real estate video can make you lots of money over & over again, but a bad video can cost your real estate business/career an absolute fortune.

To help real estate agents get a better understanding of how to use real estate videos the right way, I recently caught up with Dave Ross, company director of PropVid.tv and Imageination.com.au via a Tele-Seminar.

Dave’s video production company has been doing real estate videos for companies like McGrath, Ray White Double Bay Group, Chris Hinds Team & hundreds of other successful real estate agencies.

PropVid.tv also created the Local Video Guides for realestate.com.au.

They do some very professional work and as you’ll hear in the recording they also have some very affordable packages for real estate agents.

The content within this 30 minute recording is absolute gold, as Dave & I discuss a number of ways that video can help agents like you to leverage your time over the internet.

Dave also shares some of the ‘Do’s & Don’ts of Real Estate Videos.

In today’s time poor world, video is the greatest way that agents can present their services to more potential customers than ever before.

We also cover a number of ways that real estate agents can use videos to help them achieve a lot more real estate success right now & into the future.

It’s a fantastic insight into one of the fastest growing real estate marketing products.

Make sure you take the time to listen to this amazing Tele-Seminar & keep an ear out for the Special Offer that Dave Ross makes during this interview.

PS. During the Tele-Seminar I was on speaker phone which makes my voice come across a little distorted at times. My apologies.

Do Whatever It Takes
Thursday, March 5th, 2009

Today I wanted to share an important lesson I learnt very early in my real estate career about Clarity & Purpose and doing whatever it takes to win…

Approx. 19 years ago, both my competitor & I showed separate buyers through a home that we had as an Open Listing. Both buyers were shown through the home within minutes of each other.

Typically, both buyers decided they wanted to buy the home & they were both prepared to pay a similar price.

So it was now a race to see which agent would make the sale.

We were both located in the same suburb, but the vendor was up in Armidale (about 6 hrs drive away).

While I was on the phone to the owner trying to negotiate the sale for my buyers, my competitor was on the phone to the airlines & booked a flight to meet with the owners that evening.

Simply because he was prepared to do whatever it took, my competitor won. He got the full commission & I got an expensive, but valuable lesson.

If it meant the difference between earning a $5,000 commission or not, would you fly interstate or drive for a few hours to visit the buyers or vendors to get the deal done?

NOTE: To achieve your goals in this market you’ll need to have clarity of purpose & grab the opportunities when they present themselves.

This may mean embracing some new technologies and/or being prepared to take on a few listings outside of your service area to earn the extra commission you want.

Lots of agents I speak with are unsure how blogs & social networking sites like Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc can help their real estate business.

Well, it really depends upon how you intend to use them.

There are lots of people visiting sites like these every day & because of their huge audience, they are sites that should not be ignored by real estate agents.

But also, keep in mind that you shouldn’t now go running off like a bull at a gate & start marketing to this audience. You need to have a planned strategy for your social networking or otherwise you could find yourself wasting a lot of your valuable time.

Here’s the greatest explanation about how social networking works that I have seen to date. Perry Belcher explains it perfectly and shares some ideas on how it can work for you.

After you watch this video, you’ll be able to have a more planned approach towards social networking, rather than just going in there trying to sell your services and scaring potential customers away.

Over the next few weeks, I’ll begin sharing some of the strategies you can use to start building a relationship with potential clients by using social networking sites.
